@samhainnight @ai6yr Here in the US the Federal tax laws were changed under TFG's first reign. The laws were designed to punish those with a liberal, generous frame of mind - such as those who give to non-religious charities.
My wife and I donate a large part of our yearly income to charitable groups - particularly the performing arts. Under the US Income tax laws as changed by FFOTUS we lost the deduction for that. Fortunately, for us, we had another option, which is available only for older people, which is to donate directly from qualified retirement savings (e.g. IRA, SEP, etc) to a charity under the "required minimum distribution" (RMD) that must be taken out every year.
Charitable deductions are, I believe, still available if one's income is sufficiently large, but we aren't making tens of $millions every year.
