I’m open to freelance work too - programming and pixel art 🎨

Feel free to DM me 🙂💻

Hello internet friends and friendly internet strangers.

Things are rough out there and we gotta pay bills, so here's a thread of tech for good* roles for all y'all looking for work right now.

*or just less evil, I hope!

Laid off :/

I know:

- Unity C#
- Rust
- Python

I can learn:

- Anything

I am in Massachusetts. Remote work would be great too

I've 8 years of experience as an MIT software engineer specializing in research simulation platform projects. I would prefer: not creating the next big AI thing, not making weapons, never having to think about blockchain anything.

Anyone got anything?

1. A while ago, I remember seeing the 8048 firmware for the IBM Model F keyboard posted online. I can no longer seem to find it. Does anyone have a copy of it?

2. Additionally, I recall that with the copy I had, there was no context to how it was read out. Is there a debug/test mode on 8048 that lets you read out the firmware, similar to NCR 6500/1 (the Amiga keyboard controller, which has a few documented ways to read the mask ROM)?

PicoIDE replaces aging IDE drives & CD-ROMs with microSD storage, true CD audio and open-source flexibility. A smart upgrade for classic systems. 💾🎧🖥️

People who are more into the vi world than I am: are there any other active, still out there vi clones than vim (and things forked from it, like neovim), nvi, and evil for GNU Emacs? I've heard of elvis but it seems relatively moribund (it's not packaged for Debian, for example).

(True classic vi is out there somewhere. I know of vile but I don't think it indents to be a version/clone/etc of vi, just to feel like it.)

Acquired an old Sony Vaio M Series netbook from 2010.
Original recovery media has long vanished, though the hard disk still had the recovery partition. Used it to create recovery DVDs, and then .ISO files, now readily available on

Will eventually provide a partition image, too!

Gladys West, the mathematician and computer scientist integral to the creation of #GPS, has passed away. She left a lasting impact on mathematics, geodesy, and computer science. https://spectrum.ieee.org/gladys-west-hidden-figure-gps

Today marks 7 months of unemployment and I am very much down to the wire.

I am a full-stack & backend web developer, fluent in TypeScript, with experience building data-focused applications and both SQLite and Postrges databases.

I’m located in the northeast United States and have experience working and successfully collaborating with small, remote teams.

Boosts are appreciated. 🙏
