Global Health - Pathogen Genomics - Views and opinions expressed are mine and mine alone
APHL staff from HQ and APHL-Kenya presented to CDC and implementing partners at the Global Public Health Data Initiative (GPHDI) meeting in DC this past week This project will advance informatics (and bioinformatics) in 10 countries. #globalhealth ๐Ÿ’ป #informatics
Interesting article, from China, showing transmission of Covid OUTSIDE, from a covid + man jogging. In all, with close contacts, he exposed 48 people who later tested positive, incl family, & 39 of those he exposed outside while jogging. This is China so there was contact tracing, genome testing, & isolation. Moral of the story, #wearyourdamnedmask inside AND outside as variants become even more contagious. #Covid #covid19 #COVIDisAirborne #WearAMask

@Ekinnajay

So I will start by saying I have zero doubt that #COVID19 is airborne, but if I put my skeptics hat on, I have some concerns on this report.

1. All authors are of the Chinese government;
2. None of the sequencing appears to be uploaded to public databases (e.g., GISAID);
3. The public backlash against Zero COVID and this published report are timely; and
4. There are several weird typos in this report.

Just food for thought, I am conflicted. #covidisnotover #covidisairborne

Systems are already being built to report at home test results for #COVID. We need to continue capacity building to ingest these tests into genomic surveillance systems and effectively link them back to patient metadata ๐Ÿงฌhttps://makemytestcount.org/

@codetholdory are 13 teachers off WITH a respiratory infection or BECAUSE of a respiratory infection.... shoot, I think I am doing it wrong... I promise I will practice more.
So is #dogsofmastodon a thing? If so: Husky enjoyed spotting a herd of Mule Deer at the USDA High Plains Arboretum. I canโ€™t explain the technique, unfortunately. Her first time seeing ๐ŸฆŒ. Here are some additional photos of her doing yoga and then of them being "normal."
Today is Public Health Thank You Day. Thank you to all who make up our public health systems (labs, epis, clinicians, and everyone else with a hand in public health). The last three years would have been drastically worse had it not been for these dedicated professionals. #PublicHealth #PHTYD
@BenWWeston such a well done interface. It would be great to see more states share their data like this.

Okay, let me jump into this #introduction.
