It's #MetagenomicsMonday again! 🧬🧬🧬Today, we are leaving you with the new study on #HHV-6. Ancient #genomes revealed that modern HHV-6 diversity was already established centuries ago and that germline integrations stem from ancient founder events.

Pathoplexus | Pathoplexus November Update

Pathoplexus is a new, open-source database dedicated to the efficient sharing of human viral pathogen genomic data, fostering global collaboration and public health response.

🇨🇭🦠 Today, we celebrate the launch of the Centre for Pathogen Bioinformatics with a symposium.

👉 More: https://www.sib.swiss/centre-for-pathogen-bioinformatics

💬 We’ll have insightful talks on the role of bioinformatics in public health and pathogen research. (incl. WHO & Federal Office of Public Health)

The Centre's tools/datasets will be presented by Niko Beerenwinkel, @firefoxx66, @richardneher, Aitana Neves, @TanjaStadler.

Towards a post-pandemic future for global pathogen genome sequencing

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic had a major impact on the field of pathogen genomics. This Essay discusses innovations that have enabled routine pathogen genome sequencing, as well as how genome sequences can be used to understand and control the spread of infectious disease and discusses outstanding challenges to improve pathogen genome sequencing in the future.

Okay, let me jump into this #introduction.

I am Noah, working in the #globalhealth #publichealth field. 🌍 🌏 Lots of great projects (get ready for hashtag overload) with #APHL working on #NGS 🧬 #bioinformatics   #microbiology 🧫 #pathogengenomics #COVID19 #COVID #SARSCoV2 #wastewater #pandemicpreparedness #AMR #infectiousdiseases and a host of other items. Previously was #epidemiology #OneHealth #brucellosis 🐮 🐷 .

I can’t wait to see this community grow and doom scroll #science now.

I guess I should do an #introduction -- I'm a computational biologist working at the intersection of bacterial #PathogenGenomics and #FunctionalGenomics, mostly on sequencing-based technologies, and run a research group at the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research in Würzburg.

We dabble in #MachineLearning, #BayesianStatistics, and #DataVisualization, figuring out ways to apply these techniques to investigate #Pathogen #GeneRegulation and #Evolution.
