#WritingWonders 2 As I have 26 MCs, aka Goddesses, I’m going to pick one per day to focus on. Today it’s Eurydice, whose love story with musician Orpheus was much darker than you might think. Her theme song is ‘Flowers’ from Anaïs Mitchell’s fabulous musical, Hadestown, which I listen to over and over, finding new wisdoms every time. ‘Flowers’ perfectly sums up Eurydice’s sorrow at her own death.

"The Tooth Worm as Hell's Demon,” 18th century. Carved from ivory, the two halves open up to reveal a scene about the infernal torments of a tooth worms which people believed caused cavities in the past. Complete with mini skulls, hellfire, and naked people wielding clubs.

Sycamore Roots
James River
Long stretches of river are lined with trees hundreds of years old, mostly Sycamore and Silver Maple. Sycamores love water, knit their roots together down the banks and below the surface, binding it all together. From sky and clouds, hundreds of feet overhead, down ornate trunks, over the soil and into the river, like columns of a greek temple.
