#CooksOfMastodon I have a question about making homemade thick sauces. The recipe I’m making required 1 cup of vinegar and water, 1 can of tomato paste, and 2 bananas, plus aromatics. I poured it into a medium sauce pan, brought it to a boil, then turned the heat low. I’m stirring very frequently, but it’s bubbling so vigorously that it’s spattering all over the stovetop. Is that normal? I’ve never made #BananaKetchup before. #PinoyThings
Very promising! "The picture shows a rectangular baking pan filled with what appears to be freshly baked pull-apart bread or rolls. The bread is golden brown on top with some pieces having a slightly darker crust. There are small bits of what looks like herbs and possibly cheese sprinkled on top. The bread looks fluffy and well-risen. " #CooksOfMastodon
Today, my cooking group and I are getting together virtually to make slow cooker lasagna with home-made meat sauce, (of course), and pull-apart garlic bread. Looking forward to the aromas that are soon to be coming from the kitchen. #cooksOfMastodon
Another lovely dinner cooked by Drew tonight. @brian_hartgen began with mini bruschetta pizzas, the crust was toasted Italian bread and it was topped with red onion, tomato, fresh basil and lots of melted mozarella. I had whole shrimp which I could peel myself, which I love, marinated in garlic, lemon, olive oil and parsley with a lemon sumac mayonaise dipping sauce. Our main course was escalopes of marinated turkey steak, quickly flash fried and served with a smoky roasted garlic, herb and tomato sauce, cheese and herb mashed potatoes, which were totally epic, and a simple rocket salad. It was all very, very delicious. #CooksOfMastodon
To those dealing with excessive heat, or those needing a cool recovery after a morning workout, along with a great way to ensure leftover fruit gets used up ... a smoothie to the rescue! You can add fruit such as berries, (fresh or frozen), ice, milk, (dairy, or a non-dairy option), yogurt, chia seeds, the possibilities are endless! Today I made one consisting of, ice, vanilla yogurt, fresh raspberries, blueberries, and chia seeds. #CooksOfMastodon
Watching Stanley while I eat toasted sandwiches for lunch. He's eating wild boar. Has anyone ever tried it? I had it just once, but it's something I've never forgotten. I'm not a huge fan of pork, but this meat had been marinaded with garlic and herbs then slow cooked for hours. It came in a thick slab as big as an American steak, but it was so, so tender that you could shred into it with a fork and it tasted amazing. The light, sage infused apple sauce it had been finished with really lifted the richness too. #CooksOfMastodon
For supper I had haloumi fries with sweet chilli dipping sauce, then something new I hadn't tried. It was like a pizza dough had been rolled into a rectangle, covered with sliced jalapenos adn mozarella, rolled into a long sausage then sliced, so you get the oozy cheese and the peppers peeking out of each little bite. I'll definitely have those again, they were scrumptious but not for the fainthearted, wow! My mouth is on fire! #CooksOfMastodon
I'm watching darling Stanley Tucci because I'm hungry. He's cooking Risoto in venice with braised cuttlefish and using the ink to make the normally snow white risoto black. The interesting thing is, he's using my favorite Risoto rice, Carnaroli which I think gives a way better result than Arborio, and I'm like, yes! I'll never forget making my very first attempt at Risoto topped with fat garlic, lemon, pepper shrimp on top. I think I made it too thick but I still remember the taste and texture. #CooksOfMastodon
@walkside3 Oh how delicious, I love talapia. I can't eat corn, but I'm reminded of something Stanley Tucci says. To eat buttered corn he butters a thick slice of crusty bread, then uses the bread to slather butter on the corn cob. So you not only get to eat the evenly buttered corn, but when you eat the bread it's soaked in melted butter and also tastes of the corn. I'm wondering if anyone else does it that way, I never heard of it before. #CooksOfMastodon
@lulu_bear This would be amazing! I always enjoy reading your posts about food you've made/eaten/would like to make, so please fill the hashtag #CooksOfMastodon with your awesomeness.
