Trajectory data, eg mobility data, is often sparse and incomplete.
To solve it, see our #newpaper: Multiple-level Point Embedding for Solving Human Trajectory Imputation with Prediction in ACM Trans.on Spatial Algorithms and Systems

Multiple-level Point Embedding for Solving Human Trajectory Imputation with Prediction | ACM Transactions on Spatial Algorithms and Systems

Sparsity is a common issue in many trajectory datasets, including human mobility data. This issue frequently brings more difficulty to relevant learning tasks, such as trajectory imputation and prediction. Nowadays, little existing work simultaneously ...

So one more #FollowFriday is @unsw_ai - it’s the UNSW Sydney uni #AI #ML #DataScience research institute & it’s full of good humans like @tw @flosalim (me too so this toot is slightly biased) & we do interesting stuff

It’s time for some #introductions

#UNSW is a significant world player in the development of #ArtificialIntelligence (AI), #DataScience (#DS) and MachineLearning (#ML) technology.

UNSW’s extensive track record in the #ResearchAndDevelopment of #AI and its application is well recognised globally. Our academic staff hold many prestigious fellowships, and our staff, students and alumni have started many AI technology enterprises.

We will be sharing about our #projects and #innovations and look forward to building new #collaborations

Also our #robots 🤖 are some of the best #soccer (#football) players in the world.

Got so much done the last two weeks and tomorrow is my last working day of 2022!!
Multiple invited talks (Cisco Live, Monash ISAAC AI Summer school, AusDM 2022), hosting IARPA, MITRE US, and Cecilia Mascolo (Cambridge), chairing panels, finalizing recruitments, finishing reviews for Communications of the ACM Regional special section in East Asia and Oceania, submitted a Shonan proposal, and my ARC Future fellowship and an ITTC proposal! Had our CSE EOY party! @aquigley

Another discussion I've heard about #ChatGPT is applicants using it for college admissions essays. So from an expert on PhD admissions... yes, it can write an SOP but with an important caveat. You have to do your own research because it absolutely will just start making stuff up. Anyway here's a decent SOP I generated by knowing exactly which faculty to mention, and then also what happens when you don't. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12QQuBB3GUYdzRALWgYFC8pp0FTfrvEEhkSE1L1IiYGs/edit

Bad reasons to reject good papers and vice versa by Peter Sewell along with examples of satirical peer review comments specific to PL but quite spot on across all areas of CS https://m-cacm.acm.org/blogs/blog-cacm/267440-bad-reasons-to-reject-good-papers-and-vice-versa/fulltext

Bad Reasons to Reject Good Papers, and Vice Versa

(or, am I Reviewer #2? Should I be?)

I’m giving seven talks in the next 2 weeks, including an invited talk at #CiscoLive which is Cisco’s global conference tomorrow on ‘The Future of #AI + #IoT for digital transport: a hybrid cloud use case’, a three-part invited lecture series in the #ISAAC #AI summer school at Monash on ‘Data-efficient learning of dynamic behaviours’, and an invited address at #AusDm2022 on ‘robust human behaviour modeling’ next week. The other two are closed door events. Imagine how many decks I’m prepping up…

Quite shattered now. First full day back to work and of course now I’ve very sore.

Tomorrow we host our industry advisory board with #microsoft and #vodafone and #commbank etc and school meeting and farewells and our research forum with @flosalim and Sri as speakers (both of whom serve on the @ARC_Tracker) college of experts.
