If you live in an area that has bushfires/wildfires add N95 masks, some fire googles, and leather gloves in case you need them.

Also put some solid walking boots and wool socks next to your bug out bag. Don’t wear flimsy shoes as you might need to walk. https://infosec.exchange/@JessTheUnstill/113796469984201001

Since it's relevant with the California fires, it's important for everyone to maintain a "Bug Out Bag". Or at the very least, a current list of everything you need to grab for your bug out bag and where it's kept. No matter where you live, there's always a chance you're going to need to flee your home and travel long distances on foot with only what you have on your back with very little notice. For example, I've got all of my IDs and critical paperwork, my backup yubikey, and a bit of emergency cash in a baggy in my safe. Once I grab my meds and that baggy, I've got enough to at least start to rebuild my life even if everything else is gone.

This is a legit question - there are huge swathes of close to the CBD Sydney suburbs that can and will burn that will be super hard to evacuate. Just go look at Lane Cove for eg.

Wildfire climate connection

Climate change, including increased heat, extended drought, and a thirsty atmosphere, has been a key driver in increasing the risk and extent of wildfires in the western United States during the last two decades. Wildfires require the alignment of a number of factors, including temperature, humidity, and the lack of moisture in fuels, s
