Wayland's Smithy on Oxfordshire Ridgeway is a Neolithic Chambered Long Barrow once believed to have been home of Wayland Saxon God of metalworking. #Archaeological investigations indicate that 14 People were interred in an earlier structure between 3590 & 3550BC before larger barrow was constructed around 3460BC as seen today (recent reconstruction asides following excavation in 1960s) #TombTuesday #NeolithicNovember #Archaeodon #folklore

Claws and Contrivances

Firstly, I'd just like to say thank you to all the people who have liked, boosted and commented on my images, and to all the new followers I have. It's rather humbling. 😊

Today's shot comes from a magical day in the Scottish #Highlands, a few years ago, when I was photographing red squirrels.

These charming characters are incredibly agile and can jump great distances between trees.

Here I managed to capture one as it appears to be flying down my lens.

I just posted my big thank-you video for all of my Kickstarter supporters (including a list of all the supporters who were happy to have their names included as sponsors of the Good Neighbors audiobook). Thank you all so much!!! https://www.stephanieburgis.com/2022/11/a-huge-kickstarter-thank-you/

A Huge Kickstarter Thank-You - Stephanie Burgis

Back in September, I hit “Publish” on my Kickstarter for an audiobook of Good Neighbors, after months of anxiously wondering whether I even dared to do this… And the results were phenomenal. Not only did the Kickstarter fund by halfway through its allotted time limit, it went well over its original goal! And I am…

I also decided to take photographs of all the socks I've knitted over the last year. 8 pairs and counting! (If my editor reads this I am working on the book I promise. 👀 )

It's finally cold enough to start wearing the Norwegian-inspired sweater I knitted last year, and I can't say I'm too upset about that! (Especially fitting today, as I'm editing my second WW2 romance which is partly set in Norway.)

I've been here a few days but been terrified of posting for some reason! So let's give this a go.

Hey, I'm Erin, I'm a queer autistic author who likes to talk about about autism, queer stuff, and various random tv shows I'm currently watching. And dogs. Lots of dogs.

I have no idea how hashtags work on here yet so just chucking them everywhere.

I built this tool a year ago but I feel like Mastodon folks would like it

The "Weird Old Book Finder"

Type in a search query, and it'll find one randomly-chosen public-domain book that matches the query -- and present it for immediate reading: https://www.weirdoldbookfinder.net/

Why only one book? To prevent the paradox of choice! Just *start readin'*

Can't promise every book will be weird, but most are
