Current note entry project, from a composer whose music I have worked on for two decades, contains at the end of it my most favourite tempo indication of all: quasi senza rit. (= as if no slowing down)
I mention it because I they had also used it in the first piece of theirs I worked on, and (I was new to the job) I queried the ‘quasi’ in red pen (ah we worked on paper back then), and before I had finished marking it up I had worked out what it meant and why it is a sensible clear and concise marking, and different from ‘senza rit.’
I had to white out the markup, and that was a salutary lesson on this composer’s careful notation.
I’ve not seen it in their work since then, I think.
