really want to write a blog about how 'wanting to help' and 'actually being helpful' are 2 very different things, and when you are disabled, you REALLY REALLY NEED people to understand this! Like, if I say no thanks, then I'm not being mean or touchy. I'm letting you know it isn't helpful! Only my brain isn't working. So I'm posting this to remind me to do it another day. #NEISvoid #disability #fatigue #PoTS #hypermobility
And I can give situation-specific instructions wherever needed (whether it's that I'm currently non verbal, or I need to lie down, or am in sensory overload etc) without having to find the right words in the moment.
I love my keyring cards. It's like having an easy-read, personalised book that summarizes my disability and needs - so I can quickly, effectively, and with minimum energy, let people know the essentials in a way that makes them smile, understand and accept.

@siderea Thanks for all your comments, they are really useful.
At last I'm well enough to re-start work on a professional education webinar series on supporting patients with long term conditions! So, patients, What do you think of this slide specifically on challenges we face prepping for an appt? Do you relate? Anything major missing?
@begrudging_recluse I second the arthritis gloves/compression gloves suggestion.
Also you can get crochet hooks with chunky handles which can make a difference.
@ohtwist noooooo!
Well, it's first day back at work after the Christmas break - but the fact is my #fatigue and #BrainFog is off the chart. So rather than going by my planned to do list, I'm posting this, then heading for a lie down.
@emilyladau Me too!
@forestsystem Yup! Me too. Although mines been officially diagnosed as autonomic dysfunction for years. If you want some tips, shout. But 100% absolutely to sitting up right - esp with feet down, can be a massive symptom trigger!
