I’ve seen it been set as ‘targets’ for autistic people to achieve far too many times. When many of us have had negative experiences with our peers, pressuring us into friends will not end well. Especially if it’s not what we want/not ready for it yet
Ultimately we shouldn’t assume friendship is the solution.
For some of us making friends will bring happiness, but not for all of us.
Something I see a lot is NT people assuming
“They need to make more friends, and socialise more” when it comes to autistic people.
But how many of them have even asked the autistic person if this is what they want?

I broke my arm since I last posted! It happened about 2 weeks ago and things are starting to get a little easier day to day, but still along way to go until full recovery!

If you are autistic + ADHD, what have you come to learn to be red flags in friendships? or signs a friendship is no longer (or ever was) genuine?
I’ve had moments when I’ve managed masked less when interacting with people, but it’s mainly under specific circumstances where it’s safer to unmask.
Masking is such a complicated thing.
