I got home today from a road trip in which I juggled back pain, #fibromyalgia prone-ness to brain fog, fatigue and pain and the usual #autistic struggle with sensory overload and #ADHD time management failure tax.
So it was a good time to reflect on how all of the above has impacted my #travel, and what's helped me minimise sensory overload, reduce stress and pressure, and travel in greater comfort as a #neurodivergent, #disabled person.

My most delayed thing after long covid in 2022 was planning to travel. Navigating with autism and ADHD alone can be overstimulation, tiring and frustrating. But with a Fibro diagnosis, I now have to plan not only for autistic sensory needs and ADHD challenges, but for low physical energy, high risk of chronic fatigue and pain. So whether you're travelling as or with an autistic person, ADHD person, or someone prone to fatigue and pain, I'll attempt to unpack the factors I think you need to consider to minimise stress, fatigue and pain and to maximise comfort on your trip.
The littlest sir, though doing a lot better lately, still has anxiety and is alarmed by loud noises he doesn't recognise. It's kind of adorable how he looks to me to make sure I'm not worried about a noise, and I'll explain to him ("Just someone beating their rugs outside") and despite not understanding a word, he'll believe my tone!
Here he is, looking so very little.
Am happy to report that there's a small man on my desk! Again! The alt text typed with him licking the inside of my elbow!
