“Trump has nominated the hospitality executive Scott Socha – whose company once sued to claim trademark rights to the name “Yosemite National Park” – to lead the National Park Service.”

“The private park concessionaire executive Socha has zero experience in public service or conservation, he’s made a career out of extracting maximum profit from our national parks, not protecting them...”

Federal #judges in upstate #NewYork appointed a new #USattorney Wednesday only to see him abruptly fired by the White House, in the latest clash between the #Trump admin & the #judiciary.

Donald T. Kinsella, 79, was appointed as US attorney in the Northern District of New York in a private ceremony on Wednesday. But just hours later, Kinsella said, he received an email from a White House official telling him that he was being removed from the post.

“Judges don’t pick U.S. Attorneys, POTUS does,” said DAG #ToddBlanche in a social media post Wednesday. “See Article II of our Constitution. You are fired, Donald Kinsella.”
[↑This is not accurate. There are circumstances in which judges choose, like for instance when an illegal appointment has been made, or an interim #USattorney exceeds their term.]

Annual reminder to Canadian citizen/permanent resident authors, editors, translators, photographers, illustrators, and narrators: if you've published a book in the last 5 years, you may be eligible for the Public Lending Right Program from the Canada Council for the Arts. The program pays $50 to $4,500 based on the number of books you have at Canadian lending libraries. I've always earned more from PLRP than I have in royalties.

Registration opens later this month.
