Trump vuole uscire dalla Nato. Mi chiedo come si sentano ora i leader europei che hanno stupidamente rotto i rapporti con la Russia.

Gentile lettore, gli europei sono rimasti con un palmo di naso, ma dovevano aspettarselo: Trump non aveva lesinato indizi sul suo pensiero in materia. Prima ha detto che il mitico art. 5 della Nato non obbliga nessuno a scendere in guerra per difendere un Paese associato. Poi ha proceduto a vari e articolati insulti agli europei che si sono rifiutati di intervenire in Iran dove s’è cacciato in un’avventura buia come un pozzo nero in una notte senza luna. Ora dice che vuole uscire dalla Nato. Probabilmente non potrà farlo perché il Deep State è più forte di lui, ma la paralizzerà e comunque il rapporto transatlantico è rotto: persa la verginità, non si ripara. Al di là d’ogni altra considerazione, a me viene da ridere pensando a Finlandia e Svezia. Per lungo tempo hanno vissuto in pace grazie al loro status di Paesi neutrali: la Finlandia lo era formalmente dal 1945, la Svezia de facto da due secoli. Però due anni fa Helsinki e Stoccolma improvvidamente aderirono alla Nato. Ricorderà come si sfregavano le mani: “Ora sì che siamo al sicuro, protetti da Nato e America”. Che ironia del destino! Adesso Trump vuole buttare a mare la Nato o farla diventare un club europeo, utile di fatto quanto una bocciofila. In un ipotetico scenario di guerra con la Russia, Finlandia e Svezia sarebbero tra le prime a essere attaccate. Al fischiare del primo missile russo, griderebbero: “Trump! Aiuto! Questi ci distruggono” e la risposta da Washington sarebbe: “Chissenefrega!”

Dear reader, the Europeans are left with their noses to the ground, but they should have expected it: Trump had not spared hints about his thinking on the matter. He first said that the mythical Article 5 of NATO does not obligate anyone to go to war to defend a country associated. Then he proceeded to various and elaborate insults at the Europeans who refused to intervene in Iran where he got into a dark adventure like a black hole on a moonless night. Now he says he wants to leave NATO. Probably he won't be able to do it because the Deep State is stronger than him, but he will paralyze it, and anyway the transatlantic relationship is broken: lost its virginity, it cannot be repaired. Beyond any other consideration, it makes me laugh thinking about Finland and Sweden. For a long time they lived in peace thanks to their neutral status: Finland was formally so since 1945, Sweden de facto for two centuries. However, two years ago Helsinki and Stockholm suddenly joined NATO. You will remember how they were rubbing their hands: “Now we are safe, protected by NATO and America”. What irony of fate! Now Trump wants to throw NATO overboard or make it a European club, useful in fact as much as a paperweight. In a hypothetical war scenario with Russia, Finland and Sweden would be among the first to be attacked. At the sound of the first Russian missile, they would scream: “Trump! Help! They are destroying us” and the response from Washington would be: “Who cares!”
