Yesterday I finished planting out my veggies in the raised bed and sweet peas in a big pot.

I can only do a little at a time #limitedmobilitychallenges but I have a real sense of achievement :)

Have lost track of the days cos of #painsomnia but here's a few things I've managed to do recently:

Weeding tool arrived, so I've hooked out unwanted plants in the raised bed & used solar power (heatwave) to destroy them.

Created a hedgehog and/or other wildlife watering hole by putting on the patio my least presentable ceramic pasta bowl.

First harvest: cut chives for potato salad - tasty.

Held off planting out my seedlings cos of said heatwave: they're hanging in there:

At the rear of this long block of flats, I have windows overlooking a long narrow strip of young birch woodland beside the railway tracks. On the other side of the railway is mixed age woodland including some mature trees.

Here's the dusk chorus Merlin list from today:

I frequently hear the blackcap singing, which is a delight :)

Day 5 of #30DaysWild

The Giant Bolivian #Achocha seedlings are getting their true leaves.

When (if) they flower, there will be a good food source for #pollinators , especially #hoverfly species.

Day 2 of #30DaysWild

Just on the edge of the patio - a couple of steps from the door - I found #scat.
Ofc I'm now calling it a "scatio" ;)

All 3 scat are blackish, the diameter of a pencil, and about the length of my thumb.

I checked my #ID with several wildlife friends and:

A #hedgehog has been doing the rounds! I'm delighted they're roaming here. The speed limit on the access road is just 10 mph.

We have germination!

Classic #cucurbit cartoon-style seed leaves.

I'm attempting to grow a vegetable again, now I have outdoor space.

Is anyone else here in the #UK #allotment #gardening #vegetable #growyourown groups raising Bolivian Giant #Achocha ?
