Take Action for Sheep: Tell H&M to Drop Wool Now!
Do you know the cruel truth behind wool socks, sweaters, and coats? The brutal secrets hidden by the wool industry are truly shocking and sheep desperately need your help. Please urge H&M to stop selling wool and offer compassionately-made clothing instead! Sheep are subjected to horrific treatment and procedures to produce trivial fashion items. Sheepâs wool is intended to help protect the animalsâ skin and regulate their body temperature. In the wild, sheep do not need to have their wool cut off or shorn; however, some species of sheep have been bred to produce unnatural quantities of wool for fashion and household items. In some countries, such as Australia, a barbaric procedure called mulesing is common in young lambs who are typically between 2-10 weeks old. Mulesing involves cutting off chunks of skin from around the sheepâs tail to prevent fly larvae infestation. This procedure is performed without anesthesia and painkillers are not typically used. Mulesing is an unimaginably painful procedure that leaves animals with agonizing open wounds that can take weeks or even months to heal. Once they have grown enough wool, sheep are sheared with large blades or electric clippers. The terrified animals are often roughly handled during this process to maximize speed and profits, which can lead to cuts, injuries, and even broken bones. When sheep can no longer produce enough wool to be profitable, they are often sent to the slaughterhouse where they are violently killed. Slaughter methods typically include stunning the animals with a bolt gun that runs an electric current through their brains, hanging them up by their hind legs, and cutting their throats. Stunning methods are often done incorrectly and do not fully render the animals unconscious, meaning animals can be awake and aware as they bleed to death. Take Action for Animals! Thereâs no need to wear wool from sheep. Plenty of fabrics and textiles exist that do not involve the torture and killing of vulnerable animals, such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, tencel, and recycled polyester. Please urge the CEO of H&M Group to permanently stop the sale of wool and offer compassionately made items instead! To make the biggest impact, please update the subject line of the email and include reasons why you want H&M to stop selling wool. *Vegan FTA does not condone or encourage violence, hate speech, threats, vandalism, or unlawful activity of any kind.
