Happy #WorldPhotographyDay! Never too late to join the party.

These photos capture what I like about nature photography. I am grateful to be living in a region with such diversity in wildlife and beautiful landscapes from the mountains to the estuaries to the sea.

I hope you find inspiration around you.

Hey Friends!
Well it's migration time. I'm leaving the small community on photog.social, heading out to the big ocean. My new home is @ncgleason. Boosts appreciated so I can stay connected in case I mess something up in the move. Might take a few days to get set up.
I'm still posting mostly my nature photos, sometimes my cats, and occasionally some left-leaning political opinions. Same content, new location. Thanks for sticking with me! I value every one of you and our connection here!

Today is #NationalPotatoDay

To all spuds lovers, this is for you my people! A lovely yellow flesh potato in all its glory.

For the next two months, I'll photograph black bears fattening up on salmon and hopefully I'll catch a glimpse of the elusive coastal wolf and cougar.

It is also a popular time of the year for private photo tours so if I'm quiet on Mastodon, don't worry, I'll be back! Famous last words. 😁

And some wonder why many women would rather encounter a bear…

“Putting the responsibility of "staying safe" onto women is a barrier to actual change, because it shifts the focus from the systems that allow gendered violence to fester.”

There are plenty of safety tips for female runners. But how do we stop men from assaulting them? | CBC News

Tips, tricks, and tech abound to help women runners stay safe on the road or trail. But what's missing, experts and advocates say, is an emphasis on teaching men not to assault women in the first place.

Between April and July, I regularly visited a bald eagle nest on Vancouver Island. This video shows how the parents cared for their offspring and how fast the eaglets grew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEbDYy6vTf4

I'm working on a short video with photos and footage taken at an eagle nest between the end of April and early July. I am hoping to post it on my You Tube channel this weekend.

Stay tuned! 🦅

#BloomScrolling One of the beautiful wildflowers on Vancouver Island. It is called a Sitka columbine or western columbine (Aquilegia formosa).
