Talking about being happy, here's a California sea lion taking a nap after overindulging on herring.

En parlant de bonheur, voici un lion de mer de la Californie en train de faire la sieste après avoir mangé trop de harengs.

I just want to let Vancouver Islanders know that guests on my tours find you super friendly and apparently we smile a lot. They seem surprised how happy, relaxed and friendly people are here. Anyway I thought you should know. Cheers! 😊

@carolannie Hoping you get enough fruits to make a pie or jam. :)
I have a simple recipe for plum pie: Use a homemade pâte sablée, bake it slightly in the oven. Add plums cut in half on top of the pâte sablée, sprinkle with brown sugar and a few bits of butter. Back in the oven until the plums are cooked/baked (?). Delicious when the pie is still warm.
I bought this old kitchen table and am planning to refinish the surface of it, keeping its old feel but I want to remove the water/heat marks from it. Any suggestions from our #DIY folks appreciated. Thanks!
@FtRupertTed I think sanding the surface will get rid of the water/heat marks but still keep the old feel underneath. I used that technique once and it worked.

From the archives and for #ThickTrunkTuesday : an arbutus tree also known as madrone (Arbutus menziesii) on Denman Island.

@GPJohnston I support using the original name of places rather than the names given by the colonisers. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. :)
Nooksack reminds me of Nootka. There must be a link.

It's still winter up in the mountains on northern Vancouver Island. A 4 days of heavy snowfall lead to a spectacular blue sky sunny weekend for backcountry skiing. In the center of the photo, 4 people can be seen traversing onto a cliff, high up on a snow-covered mountainside. The photo was taken from Mount Cain, looking east toward Kunnum Peak.
