I'm teaching a course this winter on the environmental history of empire, and looking for readings on decolonization and the environment. This includes the environmental impact of anti-colonial warfare, changes in the land, late colonial policy shifts, indigenous environmental resistance strategies, etc. Any suggestions?

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱! Or hello environment? We are the International Consoritum for Environmental History Organizations, working toward #𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁 cooperation and organizing the 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮. The next congress will take place in Oulo, Finland, in 2024.
I did an interview for Review of African Political Economy w/Victoria Brittain about my recent book. If you're interested in Africa or the history of revolutions, here you go: https://roape.net/2022/12/06/the-international-forces-arrayed-against-sankara-were-too-much-victoria-brittain-in-conversation-with-brian-j-peterson/ @africanstudies @histodons
“The international forces against Sankara were too much” – Victoria Brittain in conversation with Brian J. Peterson - ROAPE

Radical journalist Victoria Brittain discusses the life of Thomas Sankara with Brian J. Peterson. Peterson has written a biography which recounts in detail the life, politics and assasination of the Burkinabé revolutionary. The book sheds new light on the responsibility for Sankara’s murder. Brittain and Peterson talk about his work, and the project of transforming Burkina Faso in the 1980s.

Just a reminder that we're looking to hire an historian of Technology and/or Medicine in the Global South, at the level of asst. professor (tenure-track). Deadline for all materials is tomorrow. @histodons

I think we academics overestimate our importance if we insist that we meet in person for a conference restricting remote options & in a place most only reach with a huge #climate footprint🌏 (+if privileged🛂💰). I consider it would be unethical for me to attend such events. Some of us in #internationallaw #lawprof #publiclaw received an invitation today. #staygrounded #climateemergency @StayGrounded_net @PIL

Are you on a hand-held device? I think it might be because we're using the app on smart phones and tablets. I just tried it on my desktop computer and I have the bookmark option there.

@histodons @africanstudies Come join us in person or via zoom for our Workshop "#Sustainability in use: bureaucratic processes and technology use in Africa"! We want to explore the interdependent #articulations of #bureaucratic and #technological processes; i.e. things like borrowing #technologies with the intention of standardising procedures, but also how technologies themselves, esp. #infrastructures, engender #bureaucratisation in their management.
