I take notes with a camera. Besides my authentic photography (see https://take-note.com/about), I'm also interested in promoting the work of other "first-person" photographers, and protecting all authentic photography (analog or digital) from generative AI. And smashing neofascist capitalism. When I’m home, I’m in Montana. #Authentic #Photography #Solidarity #DemocraticSocialism

Getting ready for a state funeral...

Maybe I'll make posters for people who show up to the funeral procession.

Maybe I'll make t-shirts to commemorate the occasion.

Maybe I'll make a set of holiday greeting cards.

Maybe I'll make a bumper sticker.

Maybe I'll make yard signs so that your neighbors can share your solidarity.

Maybe I won't wait until he's dead.

“In my dad's memory, I fight fascism, too"

I was recently in Reims, France—for the champaign. But I happened to be there on the anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. In this room, which was camouflaged at the time by a functioning high school, papers were signed by representatives of the Allied nations, including General Eisenhower, and Germany, who officially surrendered. The document is still displayed in this museum.

"Movement Parties" can sometimes successfully augment (if not replace) traditional political parties, most relevant in the American context.

This review of "Organize or Burn" by Fabian Holt outlines how this is being organized in locals affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the victory of Zohran Mamdani in NYC being the most notable example, among others.

Disclosure: I am a founding and lifetime member of DSA, and lifetime subscriber of Jacobin.

Both photographers should get Pulitzers.

"Getty photographer [John Abernathy, [email protected], from Minneapolis] was tackled by about 50 agents while covering Whipple.

"He threw his camera at another photographer [unknown, maybe Pierre Lavie] to prevent it from being confiscated.

Like this young man, I'm not sure what to make of his present situation (nor does he). I only know that with solidarity it will get better this year.
Nine years ago I was at the Dakota Access Pipeline protest on Lake Oahe in North Dakota. On Thanksgiving Day, I was privileged to participate in the traditional Native meal preparation by The Sioux Chef. Starting at dishwasher, I was eventually able to help cook and serve the assembled chiefs their meal. The encampment was as close as I will come to living, if only for a few days, a communitarian society. Photos were discouraged, but I did get this shot of my corner of the camp. Water is life.
The sooner we tax the rich, the better (the article is paywalled, by a billionaire).

After a period of silence, FB is now trying to reengage my interest in advertising on the platform. But they deleted me! Why anybody would give them money, or time, is beyond me.
