It astounds me that I routinely post photos that look like they must be perspective tricks (that is a normal human adult loveseat couch) and people still say “he’s bigger than I thought” when they see my tiny baby in real life

@mdione oh there’s quite a big difference. Standing normally, he’s not particularly high, because his legs aren’t that long compared to his nose-to-tail length. But I can touch his head while we’re walking next to each other without bending down.
Sitting upright, his head is above my waist.
Standing like people, his paws are on my shoulders and his nose is up by my forehead. (I’m 5’9” / 175cm)

Emelia/Emi@0xabad1dea I've seen exactly two dogs larger than him in my entire time on this planet, and they were unnatural mountains of dog, so it's not that surprising to me that most people don't realize just how big dogs can get. (The bigger of the two was ~350lbs/160kg and didn't appear to be particularly overweight, it was straight up the size of a small horse)

Was on a festival years back with some friends and we encountered a streamer/author/tabletop RPG GM - was at most a hundred meters - who wasn't not noticeable due to their bright colored hair.
Acknowledged their presence, and kept the encounter at a distance. They were there for the event, and we were delighted to see a public figure at that event. Never crossed paths again.
