I think it's clear that Siri AI will never launch in the EU if Apple can't follow the law. It's not going to get an exemption, it's not going to PR-blast its way to some imaginary political change in the EU that will go back and unwrite the DMA, especially if it's relying on anti-European agents to amplify its message. Apple can continue to ship the shit version of Siri; Europeans, who statistically aren't Apple users in the first place, couldn't care less where Apple sticks its AI
Apple is playing a game of chicken with a brick wall, and thinks that if it taunts it enough it will win

"what the Commission is demanding from Apple" — the European Commission isn't demanding anything, the law is demanding it. The laws have been in place for several years now, Apple is currently in default of the law on several fronts, and is fighting its existing fines. There is no 'position' to be backed down from on the EC's side, and somehow this many years in Apple still doesn't understand that, despite losing every tiny little argument it has kicked up over the DMA. Over and over

been waiting for the shitty @gruber’s“eu bad” take since wwdc. 💀💀💀

Excellent article about developing web apps that work for as many users as possible. https://mohkohn.co.uk/writing/html-first/
How building an HTML-first site doubled our users overnight

My client was a utility company, and they had a big problem...

"We had a few contacts with Apple on this matter, this I can confirm. But Apple was simply unable to develop interoperability solutions that meet essential EU privacy and security standards.

Instead of trying to find a suitable compliance solution, Apple simply made a request to the European Commission to be exempted from their interoperability obligations under the DMA.

And this for at least 18 months on top of it. Guess what? That's not an option."

#wwdc26 in a nutshell

iOS 27 to iOS 26 feels like iOS 8 to iOS 7.

A major UI change that gets readjusted with a lot of much needed bug and performance tweaks.
