@mcc It is pretty sad.
In 2015, Windows acknowledged a 30 Year Anniversary. After missteps with Windows 8, also announces Windows 10 being a free upgrade for all Windows Vista, 7 and 8 users.
The question: right now nobody will celebrate a 50th anniversary of Windows (the 40th was last November, did anyone notice), but with Microsoft renaming everything as CoPilot, will Windows even exist by then?

Reminder
Too big & too old to be a trustful thing:
1- The complexity of a program increases until it exceeds the capabilities of the teams responsible for its maintenance. (done since the beginning, a common thing with stolen stuffs)
2- A bug free program is an obsolete one.

yes
@honor2025 @mcc 5% on what? like linux users make up 5% of something now?
either way i’d believe it, windows is seriously unusable now, especially if you actively do not want to use ai.
Indeed, but I think that was a while ago
It's worse now
@mcc its been 25 years and files still get locked, forcing you to restart to release the lock, so you can delete or rename the file.
You decide.
Impossible @mcc
Its rank power surpasses that of a mere one program, it must be *many* not very good computer programs
If you give a room full of monkeys with typewriters 150k random DLLs, could they produce Windows 12 by accident?
@mcc No. Pretty confident it indeed takes that many programs to be that terrible. You wouldn't be able to do it with just one. A raw kernel that boots up to nothing couldn't do anywhere near the same level of damage nor cause the same amount of frustration. Trying to integrate enough into one monolithic program would cause it to fail cascade too soon I think.
In other words, no...it's several and has to be.
Copilot said no.
@mcc <insert 'never was' meme>
(or maybe 2.0 was? I just started my Windoze career with 3.0)
@mcc your asking the wrong question.
The right question is, is it possible windows is the worst OS in history due to being a giant black box.
@skedarwarrior @mcc Is it worse than TempleOS?
Yes. Yes it is.
@mcc
It is.
I went to see a good friend yesterday, I had to use his computer and I felt dirty using Windows 10.
💭...oh, wait, is it a flat square Windows logo ? That's Windows 11 😫😭...💭
💭...at least he has Firefox.💭
💭...oh, a taskbar ad 🤗😑 ?💭
I showed him Kubuntu on Distrosea.
I asked him if his computer worked well or was "muddy driving". I told him I could change his OS within 20 minutes with a spare USB key 😄.
