Zuck's assholes decided to bring facial recognition technology into the courtroom, thus providing the means for deanonymizing jurors.

Judge scolds Mark Zuckerberg's team for wearing Meta glasses to social media trial

A Los Angeles judge ordered Meta officials to remove their AI glasses at a trial over the impact of social media on users.

@munin

Funny how that works.
Most people would go to jail for a few days contempt for bringing an active video camera into court.

@johntimaeus @munin Just talking back to a judge will get poor people contempt of court, billionaires get away with whatever they like. This is Zuckerberg's own product and this isn't the first time he's been defending himself in court, if they don't see serious repercussions then the judge is not fit to be a judge.
@munin
They behave as if they live in a world where cringe never existed

@aaron
That's the thing, they have so much power and are greedy for more, they think they're above cringe and shame.

@munin

@munin

Creeps. Creeps. Look at them, knowingly breaking the law at a trial, smugly.

Creeps the lot of them

@munin being so bad that even today's CBS thinks you're idiots.
@munin dick move. when they tell you who they are, believe them…
@munin Are there any jurors at meta's trials?
@munin
Scolds? For taking cameras into court? Automatic contempt of court sentence surely? The US legal system seems unduly harsh on everyday citizens but so accommodating to the wealthy.

@munin

Just goes to show how arrogant these tech bros and their supporters are, granted these glasses may not be turned on, but they could easily wear just normal sunglasses or glasses (if needed) which would not have provoked a reaction.

There may be nothing to this, but they are not helping themselves.

@zleap @munin ā€œthere may be nothing to thisā€ā€”-I disagree, but I think the point they are making is that they consider themselves above the law.

If they aren’t held in contempt then they get away with it, and THAT is the point.

@grammasaurus @zleap @munin šŸ‘ - terrific answer.
@zleap @munin šŸ‘ and dig their own hole.

@munin Every time I've entered a federal or county courthouse—sometimes to serve jury duty, to support a relative before a judge, or to just do some business with the county—I've had to put my phone into a locker. Only lawyers could bring their phones into the building. And I would be checked by guards to ensure that I didn't break the rules.

I can’t imagine that Zuckerberg & co. didn’t know that they were violating the rules of the court.

@paulc @munin - šŸ‘ ; Or don't give a crap and do what it takes to screw the system.
@munin Scolding the rich, where a "commoner" would have spent time in jail for contempt of court - the "Just Us" system is showing.
@munin
As Zuckerberg appeared to testify regarding Instagram’s negative impact on children, it was noted that individuals accompanying him were wearing the camera-equipped glasses, which have potential, upcoming AI-driven facial recognition capabilities.

@munin

if you guys have recorded anything, you have to dispose of it or I will hold you in contempt,"

IF?!

HOLD THEM IN CONTEMPT NOW!!!

@munin

I think it's callled 'eating your own dogshit', or something...

@munin @carturo222 This wasn’t an accident — Zuck’s lawyers have got to be among the highest paid on the planet and would absolutely not have mistakenly done this — but I’m not sure what the point would be.

@reay @carturo222

Presumably to intimidate the jury.

@munin @carturo222 Sure, but then what?

At worst they get a new batch of jurors and carry on. It’s not like the case won’t be tried.

That’s what I mean: I don’t see how this in any way helps out their case.

@munin

How is it that they are not in jail for contempt? I'm sure a week in jail would do Zuckerberg the world of good šŸ¤”

@munin wow!! That's bullshit
