now that Thiel’s loonies are in the news so often, this book seems especially timely: A Brief History of Living Forever, by Jaroslav Kalfar.

I first read Spaceman of Bohemia and liked it so much that I requested a copy of Brief History.

Fascinating!

(the names are changed, but you can tell who’s he talking about…)

i love these hardy plants. they grow everywhere in my town, and when i see them in my yard I tolerate them because goldfinches love them. #cornflower #bachelorbutton

@davidho While I was already very aware of the issue, the interactive graphics in the article did a particularly good job at illustrating how the blind spots have really grown compared to earlier versions of pickup trucks.

Those monstrosities shouldn't be allowed anywhere near pedestrians.

lots of rain in today’s forecast, so I went for a quick bike ride this morning to enjoy the #sunrise

Cucumbers are between 79¢ - 99¢ each in my local grocery stores, so I’m happy to see my plants flowering

Sewing friends, Costco is selling the Singer Heavy Duty machine for $179.99, which is a great price. This is a really nice general purpose machine for starting your sewing hobby! It'll make crafts, clothes, bags, quilts, it's a good little tank.

- It can easily handle things like denim or canvas, two fabrics a lot of beginning sewists using for things like bags and totes

- It has a strong motor and with regular maintenance will last a long time (I wish I'd kept mine!)

- Specialty presser feet can be a hidden expense with sewing, sometimes they're hard to find in different brands (my Bernina's feet are hard to locate). But Singer's feet are generic and you can get variety packs for $20, very nice!

”The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has become a metaphor for the Trump presidency. …Tim Walz commented: “Found an imaginary problem, said only they could fix it, didn’t listen to experts, hired buddies who grifted millions, failed miserably, bragged how great it went. The entire Trump presidency in a nutshell.” … The pattern Walz identified with regard to the pool applies also to Trump’s debacle in Iran.”

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has become a metaphor for the Trump presidency.

Letters from an American

The NYTimes should be, but won't be, deeply ashamed of using Trump's framing for this article.
The only person who vandalized the Reflecting Pool is Trump.

Trump Says Reflecting Pool Will Likely Need to Be Drained

The pool has taken on clouds of algae after a hasty renovation. A three-time Olympian was charged with destroying government property after he says he touched one of the strands of blue paint peeling off the pool’s bottom.
