Some people write «it’s good that Trump brought everyone to negotiations, because the war must be ended.»
Let’s be honest!
Trump has been holding imaginary negotiations for over a year, and this hasn’t brought us any closer to peace. If real, strict, and effective sanctions had been introduced, Putin would have been forced into genuine talks long ago — because the Russian economy wouldn’t withstand that pressure.
But the reality is different:
- many countries and companies continue earning money from Russia,
- bypass sanctions through third countries,
- pretend that “we don’t trade with Russia,” while the schemes work at full capacity,
- and secondary sanctions, which should block these loopholes, are still either not implemented or barely enforced.
So the question isn’t whether «it’s time to negotiate.»
The real question is why the world still allows Russia to comfortably bypass sanctions and finance this war.
