if you hired a couple thousand analysts and had them running AFL on those codebases, they'd have found far more vulns - and with qualified analyst intervention, been able to actually submit patches.
but instead they did a halfassed slapdash publicity stunt by automating the process and using their enormous server farm to do the churning.

my suspicion is that all the 'dire warnings' are part of a hype cycle to boost the stock price in advance of the IPO, so that the investors can cash out fast before everyone realizes just how much of a scam their shit is.
