Damn.. Feels like more bad news than good is here.
My father in law died yesterday at 10am. Unlike a lot of "* in laws", both were dear friends to me.
He called us 2 days ago, saying he needed help cause his legs wouldn't work and needed help out of the chair. We were close by. He asked to eventually go to the ER, and we weren't able to help him. Called 911.
When he got to the hospital, was queued for emergency cardiac surgery. He coded 3x, then 2x overnight.
My wife followed his direct wishes and ordered termination of life support at 10am. Everyone who knew him affirmed that was what he said for the last 60 years of his life.
We're now having to do the terrible paperwork. My wife is the only child and grandchild. It falls on her, and I support her.
And yeah, we were going to go to Gettysburg next spring.
