Dare ObasanjoI was talking to someone about Amazon laying off 30,000 people over the past few months and their response was that’s relatively small given COVID over hiring. I thought that was insensitive and decided to look up how many people they hired during the pandemic.
They hired half a million people in one year. 🤯

And the *phone rang.*
It was one of the neighbors, calling about something completely inconsequential, oblivious to what was going on.
My mom actually talked to her; I was going insane.I went to the phone jack in the wall, and mimed yanking the cord out while making the gesture of a knife sliding across my neck, telling her to cut the call.
She didn’t. I went to the TV, and tripled the volume. That did the trick.
The distance between high school and college seems enormous when you're a kid, and almost indistinguishable a few decades later. kind of bizarre.
