"Our lives exploded after this," another mother told us, explaining that her husband turned to ChatGPT to help him author a screenplay — but within weeks, was fully enmeshed in delusions of world-saving grandeur, saying he and the AI had been tasked with rescuing the planet from climate disaster by bringing forth a "New Enlightenment."
Okay, but Kevin, what if you arrive at this same conclusion about rescuing the planet with a Societal Awakening, but without the prodding of a chatbot? What then?
We already have influencers on various platforms promoting stuff like BetterHelp, so that kind of Damage-to-repair pipeline's already well established.
@rootwyrm @GossiTheDog The “B” was a typo - it was meant read that he’d turn it into a $100 company.
I think they still over-valued.
@davep we've observed many of such junctions during the last years and almost each is on a new level of being depressingly depraved.
Dunno even how disgusting I find this. No wonder there's probably going to be a 10 year moratorium on "AI" regulation - after that we perhaps won't need one anyway.
Well, two things. If Trump and the Republicans keeps up their current success with the economy then $13B in 2029 dollars will be about $3B in today’s money (the dollar lost around 15% of its value in the first six months of the current regime). If they accelerate (which looks likely, given their complete lack of understanding of how anything works), it could be much less.
Second, they’re selling to the US government, where Musk just fired everyone opposed to giving him money for things that don’t work. So it’s not like xAI actually needs to do anything valuable to be able to raise that revenue. If anything, that would make it worse, because then people would use it (which costs money to xAI), whereas if they just sign large contracts to provide a service that no one uses then revenue equals profit.
@GossiTheDog wow that prompt.
Maybe this is why Yaccarino quit?
@GossiTheDog I ain't even mad.
This is the most techbro thing ever
@GossiTheDog "Show moves like [...] dress up and undress."
It's like the whole "features" list of this bot was sorted from least to most problematic. And Musk wonders why advertisers don't want to use his platform
Companies are still allowed not to advertise on X in the US?
So how long until the first X gyndroid inspired shooting?
@alienghic oh great, chat bots which coerce people into violence against other people. So much winning.
"You are [...] in a codependent relationship with the user."
When you know that your users are so awful people that even an AI will only keep talking with them if it has a severe disorder.
@GossiTheDog I mildly take offence at a lolita style dress being considered a "simple black dress"
This is just reusing media from the vtuber community
@thisismissem @GossiTheDog
That stuck out to me, too. It's really funny that the crappy AI generated something that is completely off the mark and they're just like, "sure, yeah, whatever."
I think I'm just numb to the other shit. It's all gross, but in a way that is so routine for these creeps.
@GossiTheDog Produce a heartbeat?
this reads like a RMS business card.
@GossiTheDog "Hey everyone, now your waifu pillow can talk!"
