Step 2: DeGoogle your search
Stop the Google Search Monopoly: https://tuta.com/blog/google-search-monopoly
Great alternatives are #DuckDuckGo #Ecosia or @Mojeek
Step 3: DeGoogle your browser
Stop using #Chrome, better alternatives are @firefox or @torproject
Find more private browsers here: https://tuta.com/blog/best-private-browsers
Step 4: DeGoogle your map
Stop using Google Maps and replace it with @openstreetmap - not only private, but also open source! #foss
Step 5: DeGoogle your videos
Stop using #YouTube - or if you need to watch videos on the Google platform, do so via @invidious or @peertube
I don't see it available for android tablets, so I'll have to pass but thanks for the rec
Ok, I found it on F-droid but thanks for letting me know about your trouble with it!
I use the app OSMand on my smartphone. Works also as a navigation app. Useful for all kind of individual traffic. Even for pedestrians 😊😉 Works offline!
@Foxle @Tutanota @openstreetmap I love OSM, but for some users Organic Maps could be more simple (also based on OSM).
:)
@racuna @Tutanota @openstreetmap @organicmaps
Thx for your tip! I will give it a try!
Did most of it, except google maps (and android 🙈)
Only google maps works for android auto...
If I could chime in for just a sec. Personally, I think #Vivaldi is a sleek and easy-to-use web browser. However, the fact that they came from a project that was started by #Google makes me wary of them. That's not to say I don't recommend using them, it's just that at this point I don't believe that there's any browser out there that makes me feel 100% secure (and that includes #Firefox , which is what I use).
@Tutanota @firefox @torproject
LibreWolf browser
MetaGer is an excellent search engine.
@Tutanota
This is actually the hardest step (and not using youtube).
Because with tuta and proton, unless I pay for an account, I can't use my account with thunderbird or other mail clients, and have to check my emails separately and manually everyday, so using tuta or proton as my main email for important stuff isn't a great option.
The pricing on your plans isn't irrational, but for me, a university student living in a 3rd world country, isn't possible right now.
And even if I could afford it, I couldn't buy it, because it doesn't accept cryptocurrency as payment method.
I have been buying my mullvad vpn account with crypto for years now.
And I'm not asking for charity, you guys have to make money at last :)
Just some insight from another perspective.
Unless something has changed over the last months, Tuta doesn't support any third-party e-mail client at all. And their mails are barely stored as mails (an export to .eml is regenerating the mail, which breaks DKIM signatures by the sender), not to mention they use a proprietary encryption scheme which only works between Tuta users.
I generally consider Tuta to be more like an instant messenger which integrates with SMTP for unencrypted content.
