And there it is a view of Earth not seen for 50 years.#Artemis #MoonMission
@HoldenRichards - Unless you count all the Mars missions, and Voyager, BepiColombo, etc. Still stunningly beautiful though!
@jayshapiro Evidently NASA was referring to moon missions when this was said.
@HoldenRichards @jayshapiro Specifically human-rated spacecraft was what NASA was referring to.
@HoldenRichards It makes the damage we are doing to the planet even harder to bear when you see it like that…and what price will the moon and eventually Mars pay when we eventually get there. I cannot feel optimistic looking at this picture…
@HoldenRichards Always humbling to be reminded we're on a little blue ball, for an average of 70 years, in the darkness and vastness of space and time.
@HoldenRichards So beautiful and yet in the 50yrs since we last took this pic we haven’t looked after it. Or, to be more accurate, we haven’t looked after our place in it. Earth herself will get along just fine. Possibly without us. She’s done it before.
@HoldenRichards Weren't the Chinese there from 2007 to 2020
@HoldenRichards I absolutely love this. Apollo history is so engaging. This is super exciting!
@HoldenRichards all those flat earthers will be upset!
@HoldenRichards wow wow wow. I so want to see that in real life.
@HoldenRichards amazing! I watched the launch live with my two boys this morning and they were amazed.
@HoldenRichards I can see that pic every day
@HoldenRichards I love it! But fifty years though! 😢
@HoldenRichards Looks like it's been having a rough time.
@HoldenRichards The needs to be CW for flat-earthers. Also needs alt text?
@HoldenRichards I’m in love with this photo. The Space Science nerd in me is excited
@HoldenRichards wait, did Artimus launch today?

@HoldenRichards

This faking is gonna be much easier than the last one..........

..........#joke

Or is it ? #metajoke

@HoldenRichards Very cool photo. Thanks for sharing.
@HoldenRichards as someone who doesn’t follow space stuff, why has it taken so long to have another trip to the moon?
@jayeyecue money, and congress. Apollo was so expensive and when it ended NASA did smaller less expensive trips in the shuttle while furthering space tech. As we see shuttle engines be reused on #Artemis
@HoldenRichards Welp, looks flat to me....😂
@HoldenRichards Not many humans have seen earth as a sphere, but it sounds like they will soon.
@HoldenRichards except from the mission by China… and Japan… and India… oh… and Israel.

@HoldenRichards

Flat earthers around the globe must be losing their collective mind.

@HoldenRichards not kidding a bug landed on my phone screen at the same time as I looked at this picture and I had a millisecond "WTF is that?!" moment
@HoldenRichards I think we did get one recently from the Israeli moon mission. There was also something from India? I don't think China ever released anything from theirs.

Really super good to see NASA back in the game tho, they were very missed.
@Polychrome @HoldenRichards I don't think Beresheet sent any earth imagery back before it crashed, as for china, we're lucky to know it even landed. lol
@Ovadex @HoldenRichards Bereshit most certainly did.

Sadly the Indian Chandrayaan-2 failed in orbit, so it didn't get to get an Earth photo.
Beresheet, Israel's first moon mission spacecraft sends back selfie with Earth - Our Planet

Beresheet (which means "Genesis" in Hebrew), Israel's first Moon mission spacecraft has sent an amazing selfie with Earth in the background.

Our Planet
@Polychrome @HoldenRichards Right, forgot about that shot. Hopefully Beresheet 2 will go better though.
@Ovadex @HoldenRichards I think India's Chandrayaan-3 will get to the moon first. Whichever country it's gonna be, I'm excited.

Spaaaaace
@Polychrome @HoldenRichards Probably. It's planned for next year and Beresheet 2 is currently planned for 2024 if I remember right.
@HoldenRichards It’s a view of Earth never seen before.
