I ran #Arch updates today and #VLC player stopped paying MP4 files.

On my machine, installing the following plug ins fixed the issue.

sudo pacman -S vlc-plugin-upnp
sudo pacman -S vlc-plugin-ffmpeg
sudo pacman -S vlc-plugin-x264
sudo pacman -S vlc-plugin-x265

Having issues with my broadband, so my ISP is sending out a new router. But there's nothing wrong with my back...
@Gracchus Also cf: Steve Jobs and Dennis Ritchie. The difference in their memorials still bothers me.

I have two software projects hovering around 100 stars on GitHub. If you have a GitHub account, it would mean a lot if you could click the Star buttons! 🌟

After upgrading to #gnome 48, I had to reinstall my extensions, but they all worked once I'd done that. I wasn't left with any that are broken. #gnome48
Shout out for #SendToNotion, the best Chrome extension web clipper I've found so far for #Notion And by that I mean the only one that works like it should. The official Notion one only saves a link and no content, no matter what I try. The generically name Web Clipper works but the formatting is often so kaput its worthless. #SendToNotion just works.

Here's my final article for How-To Geek.

I'm attempting, for the second time, to retire. The first attempt wasn't 100% successful! This time it feels real.

I always conclude my bug reports to #opensource projects, or even my first followup message to a bug report filed by others, with a sentence like: "Thanks a lot for maintaining PROJECT, it's amazing!".

It's a little gesture, but it goes a long way.

When you use #freesofware made by others, remember that it is first of all a *gift* that they are giving to all humanity (and you among them), and only second a software product with defects and avenues for improvement.
