The bane of the Steam Deck is #UnrealEngine5.

#Zen2 and #RDNA2 are power efficient but not enough to move games that are badly optimized as UE5, like #Borderlands4.

#UE5 makes the case for powerful handleds, but at that point, why not just get a laptop that will be a better value? Even the cheapest RTX will beat any handled any time.

Does anyone know more about the Linux scheduler? Like, how does it behave when some tasks are pinned to certain cores while others are not? Does other tasks naturally tend to stay away from those "reserved" cores?

I would appreciate any resources on this topic. It's interesting.

I always wondered why my 3900X with 64 MB of cache performs so much worse than a 5700X3D with 96 MB of cache. It's only ⅓ more cache, after all.

Well, `lstopo` had the answer. The cache is split into 4 chunks (CCXs), so a single thread only really has 16 MB of cache available.

I actually managed to gain a few FPS through isolating a group of cores that share an L3 cache by manually setting CPU affinity.

@SkyeBlau #OnceHuman is an interesting game. I like that it is #FreeToPlay.

I can also confirm it runs on #Linux and fairly well on an #AMD #Zen2 #Ryzen 5700u. Fairly well is due to #FSR3 and #FrameGeneration

#AMD #Zen2 CPUs were found to be vulnerable to a speculative execution bug called #Zenbleed that allows attackers to leak credentials and break encryption.

The good news is that AMD has issued a microcode update, the bad news is that it's only available for their #Epyc 7002 line. The fix for consumer & workstation Ryzen products containing the Zen2 cores will need to wait for a couple months for the fix.
