Endlich vernünftig arbeiten! Mein altes Dell TB16 Dock wurde vom neuen Laptop leider nicht ganz korrekt erkannt. USB-Geräte schon, aber ein Bild war dem Dock leider nicht zu entlocken. Zumindest nicht auf den DisplayPort Schnittstellen.
Weil das Dock sowieso eher unzuverlässig war und schon relativ betagt (und laut!) war, habe ich mir ein gebrauchtes Dell WD22TB4 bestellt.
Anstecken - läuft. Hoffentlich bleibt das so.
How do I get the motivation to fix this laptop mainboard?
The only thing wrong with it is the charge ports, but the problem is 44 of the 48 pads across the 2 type c ports are missing. (don't ask me how, I don't know either, its used since it was the only replacement board I could afford)
I've been putting it off for a few months now, I know what must be done, I just am too intimidated.
Any tips for reframing this problem so i stop putting it off would be appreciated

I've already assumed that my touch pad was broken (or the driver was buggy) because after a tap-and-drag action, the mouse button was not released when releasing the finger from the touch pad.
It was "sticky", e.g. after marking multiple lines of text.
Just found out that this was introduced a while ago in Sway (to follow libinput recommendations):

Setting "drag_lock disabled" in the touch pad's config fixes this. 😌

If that laptop doesn't have an RJ-45 [1] socket on it, it's not a business/enterprise unit. [2] Full stop.
[1] Yes, technically 8P8C modular connector, but nobody calls it that.
[2] That makes it a consumer-grade machine, and should be treated as having an expiry date as long as its 1-year warranty. Every day after that is a gift.
