It's amazing how a half forgotten Victorian novel can be so contemporary and so dated. Veganism, technophobia, the role of religion, science, and education, colonialism, race, moral and physical weakness, all explored and discussed in their contradictions by an author who is clearly full of doubts.
Thought-provoking.
Complex.
Unexpected.
