Jason J.G. WhiteI acquired new noise cancelling headphones late last year. They were a gift, not a planned purchase. Product reviews correctly indicated that although the headphones supported output of USB-C audio data at 48khz, the microphone on the headphones was not supported for input over the USB interface. That is, the microphone was available only via Bluetooth. This limitation of the USB support, interestingly, was recently fixed with a firmware update to the headphones. I'm surprised that such a fundamental change could be made entirely in software.
Of course, unlike Bluetooth, listening to the USB audio gives no perceptible latency. For my use cases, this is a real advantage.
