Well, not exactly CGI - I kinda forgot that this movie came out in 1992, even digital compositing was barely a thing yet (James Cameron's "Terminator 2" CGI metal guy came out only the year before) 😝
What this means it those xeno effects are actually puppetry, which is pretty cool. Still doesn't excuse how bad the final film looks, though (in my humble opinion).
