giant fennel #umbels

There are several #allium #umbels (or #onion #flowers) which are blooming at present. They give local #bees a handy place to feed.

Here is a #BumbleBee. The first one is #yellow and #stripy whereas most local varieties have one #orange part to their #abdomens.

The second is what may be a a #HoneyBee.

A few days ago I posted a few #photographs of #allium #umbels with #bees on them in the back #garden. As the #flowers open up further more of our stripy, furry friends are visiting. Although I don’t think we’ve reached peak-bee yet but there’s a constant complement of maybe a dozen bees being maintained. None of them seem that bothered by my presence either.

This year we have many #umbels starting to bloom from various #Allium #plants, such as #leeks and #SpringOnions. In previous years there were perhaps only one or two. #Bees and #Wasps of several varieties seem to be enjoying the food on offer. In a few days time, I hope the #flowers will be teeming with more as they fully open up.
