Eastward from #TheNeedles is a #Monument to #AlfredLordTennyson.
Here’s more of the #EnglishMainland across a #Strait known as #TheSolent.
From the same hill, you can see the British #mainland and here is #Portsmouth, where you can just make out the #SpinnakerTower, which we visiting earlier this year.
Standing on the top of a hill, looking so much like a disused medieval rocket, is the #StCatherinesOratory, which is the only remaining part of a #lighthouse and #chapel built in the 14th century.
One of the famous features of the #ChalkCliffs is the formation of #TheNeedles, which are set of #ChalkStacks which jut out of the #sea on the extreme #West of the #Island. I think they look very dramatic and are well worth visiting.
Our visit to the #IsleOfWight involved a good bit of walking, which I like a lot. The terrain is quite even, unlike the craggy areas that I’m more familiar with around these parts.
Here you can see the #Chalk #Cliffs at the coast. I suppose the most famous example of those is #Dover in #Kent but that’s not very far from here.
