The former North British Diesel Engine Works on South Street in Glasgow. Part of the Barclay Curle Clydeholm shipyard, it was built in 1913, it was designed by Karl Bernhard in a Modernist style based on on Peter Behren's 1909 A.E.G. Turbine Factory in Berlin. The Titan Crane was built in 1920 to lift the completed engines into ships berthed alongside the engineering works on the Clyde.

The Barclay Curle Titan. Designed by William Arrol and Company, and built in 1920, this is one of four giant titan cranes which remain on the Clyde. This one is at the former Barclay Curle shipyard in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow. When it was in working order, it was capable of lifting loads of up to 150 tonnes.

The James Watt Dock Crane in Greenock, one of four Titan Cranes which still stand on the banks of the Clyde. The surrounding dock is now a marina for recreational vessels.

The Last of the Titans
Titan cranes were once amongst the most powerful cranes on the planet. Of the eleven that are left in the world, four can be found on the banks of the Clyde in western Scotland.
These are the Stobcross Crane, the Barcley Curle Crane (both in Glasgow), the Titan in Clydebank and the Janes Watt Dock Crane in Greenock.
