The former North British Diesel Engine Works on South Street in Glasgow. Part of the Barclay Curle Clydeholm shipyard, it was built in 1913. It was designed by Karl Bernhard in a Modernist style based on on Peter Behren's 1909 A.E.G. Turbine Factory in Berlin. The Titan Crane was built in 1920 to lift the completed engines into ships berthed alongside the engineering works on the Clyde.

There was also a signal box at the eastern end of this station, again dating from 1896, but I don't know if any trace of it remains.

The remains of the former Victoria Park Station in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow. Part of the Lanarkshire and Dumbarton Railway, it opened in 1896. Its name was changed first to Scotstoun in 1900 and then Scotstoun East in 1952, before it closed in 1964.

With the Artemis II launch last night, I thought I'd post a photo of one of Glasgow's more unusual architecturel sculptures, and the city's only sculpture of a space shuttle. Titled Space, it's one of four related panels by Brian Kelly on a 1980s housing development on Edzell Street in the west of Glasgow.

Love the Art Nouveau style font used on this 1908 stone nameplate for Saint Paul's Parish Halls on Dumbarton Road in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow.

I love this animal sculpture on the former Whiteinch Public Baths in Glasgow. It's one of a pair surrounding the city's coat of arms, and I presume it's an otter or a seal. The whiskers are especially good.

The former Whiteinch Public School in Glasgow. Built in 1915, in the bottom right of this photo, you can see the fence which divided what was once the girls half of the school (in the forefround) from the boys half (in the distance). This segregation included separate entrances, playgrounds, classes and subjects, and was a requirement of the funding of public schools under the Education Act of 1872.
