So with the general lack of responses, I'm treating this as a research year. I've pulled up #MakerWorld, and checked #Thangs, have to check #Thingiverse and #Printables yet. Part of this will include what are the licensing terms. Can I print "Treats" from given #3DPrint Models, or not. I'm OK with attribution. For next year I'm thinking that each month I'll create 1 or 2 models to prepare for Halloween.
Another bit of the research is "If I plan to print 10 of these, how long will that take?"\
Tom’s Hardware: Newly Resurrected Shapeways Acquires Thangs in Surprising Announcement. “Once upon a time, there was a company called Shapeways, where you could buy and sell physical 3D prints. This doesn’t sound very noteworthy in an age where 8-year-olds are getting ToyBox 3D printers for Christmas. I needed a small assembly table for working on my A1 Mini as I work to extract the excess plastic from the hot end space of the extruder. Handy for me was a 2 foot square "Handy Panel" I picked up a few years back however this does not provide for a way of reducing the chance something will roll off. A set of these will help. Have fun.
So, a short week on design here. Still working on printing a bunch of MultiBoard stuff (I'll have one or two designs there in a bit, but that's for a bit later.
TPU Origami Flapping Crane
I modified my PLA crane design for TPU so I could actually make it flap! This is folded exactly like a normal origami paper crane. I had to engineer the fold lines and thicker parts for the material to do this. 🦄🏴☠️👸 #cults3d #thangs #pla #holigraphic #octogram #3dprinted #3dCAD #engineer #novalight #novalightangel #smallbusiness #womanownedbusiness #fyp #origami #3dprintedorigami
With so many 3D models on Printables&co. I do wonder: Have the creators ever printed it themselves? Round edges at the bottom, giant surfaces hanging in the air, crazy overhangs all over the place... Stuff that just *can't* be printed nicely, except through crazy parameter massaging.
