Argonne National Laboratory has submitted an ASME Code Case proposing Laser Powder Bed Fusion for nuclear reactor components. If approved, LPBF could become a formal pathway for nuclear manufacturing, strengthening supply chains and reducing lead times. Research involved four US national laboratories. https://3dprintingindustry.com/news/argonnes-asme-submission-aims-to-open-a-formal-pathway-for-lpbf-in-nuclear-reactor-manufacturing-250479/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #Industrial #Argonne
Argonne's ASME Submission Aims to Open a Formal Pathway for LPBF in Nuclear Reactor Manufacturing - 3D Printing Industry

Argonne National Laboratory, a research center operated by UChicago Argonne, for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has submitted the first draft of an ASME Code Case proposing Laser Powder Bed Fusion as a permitted manufacturing process for high-temperature nuclear reactor components.  If adopted, the proposal would strengthen the nuclear supply chain, reduce manufacturing lead […]

My first ever designed and printed functional print (the one on the right, black 2019), redesigned the other day when it broke (left). This was a game changer for me, my life changed when I realised I could design and 3d print anything I needed in life #3dprinting #3dprint

I hated how bad this thing looked once I got it into the slicer so I tried splitting it up and still am very unsatisfied. Since we love Ball jars in this house, I have decided that I am going to work out my own modular Ball jar system. The first piece, the most critical, is going to be the jar mount. I have included a glue slot and the whole thing can be printed upside down without supports!

btw, I don't know how I was 3D printing without adhesive spray/glue.
So, if you're starting, buy good some adhesive, i didn't listen this advise.
I'm using spray and removing printed models from bed works well!

yet another 3D printed model. Partner asked me for soap dish. Prepared (sliced) print could be better quality. Here's model: https://www.printables.com/model/1217301-monstera-leaf-soap-dish

MIT researchers have developed VisiPrint, an AI tool that generates accurate aesthetic previews of 3D-printed objects before printing. The system uses two AI models to predict how materials will look after fabrication, considering color, gloss and translucency. It could reduce the waste from multiple reprints, with some studies estimating up to a third of 3D-printed material ends up in landfills. https://news.mit.edu/2026/preview-tool-helps-makers-visualize-3d-printed-objects-0401 #3Dprint #3Dprinting #AI #MIT
Preview tool helps makers visualize 3D-printed objects

The VisiPrint tool generates an accurate, aesthetics-first preview of how an object will look before it is 3D printed, in an effort to help makers avoid reprints that waste time, effort, and material.

Leiden University researchers have 3D printed tiny microrobots that swim and dodge obstacles like living animals. The brainless devices, just tens of micrometres long, need no sensors or software - their shape alone gives them smart behaviour. https://3dprinting.com/news/leiden-researchers-3d-print-brainless-microrobots-that-swim-and-dodge-obstacles-like-living-animals/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #Medical #Leiden
