I guess instead of trying to find and built a permissively licensed version of #uucp (which in the age of #tarballs, #TFTP, #SFTP, #FTPS, and espechally genuine 1 TB #microSD cards seems as outdated as doing #Telex and 300 baud #telnet instead of using #eMail over #Freifunk) I'd be better off developing a reference implementation of the #"#AirgappedTransferProtocol" and including that in @OS1337's packages…

@philpem the good part about the #kernel #git is that they do proper branching by version numbers, so you can directly jump to a version without having to download a tarball again.

More projects should do it that way!

I only use #tarballs for #OS1337 out of convenience and to make it easier to reproduce. Plus not every build system / target machine is allowed to have network access so importing fewer files is easier...

cloning said git takes ages and a ton of storage!

@isotopp @eliasp @Zugschlus personally, I'm not warm with #Memenetes and I think that #BSDjails, #bhyve and jist usibg a friggin #git to version #config files and #tarballs to distribute binaries works well enough when everythin else fails.
