I just updated my “Custom Instructions” and “More About You” for ChatGPT, Claude (“personal preferences”), and Gemini (“instructions”).

As a personal policy, I usually include “please” and “thank you” in my discussions with LLMs, so I also included those in the instructions.

Out of the three companies (OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google), only Google explicitly REMOVED the “thank you”s from my instructions! They have some sort of filtering system at the point of adding an instruction to Gemini. Apparently saying “thank you” was a bridge too far.
