This absolute unit of a bugger was hanging out yesterday for a bit. It was on my rear storm door for a while and then down on the deck. It was probably around 2.5"/ 6.5cm maybe a bit longer.

If my phone is to be trusted, it is Lucanus capreolus (reddish-brown stag beetle / pinching beetle).

Needless to say I stayed well clear of its business end.

On the 6th day im still in the lead in the City Cycling ranking with more than 10% of the total distance of all participating cyclists. Statistically speaking a power law. Let's see if I can keep it up. So far it feels good and with 3h28 for 100 km with 950 m incline my average speed was 28.9 km/h. Not too bad.

I had a 5 min break to save a ginormous stag beetle (or rather I took it away from a crow).
