These two artists always blow me away.

I imagine them both as very raw, in-the-flesh painters, "paint will be needed," "acquire paint for this expression," and so on.

It was always going to come out, the use of paint, no matter what, one way or another. from them.

I saw af Klint's show at Tate a little bit ago, it was one fantastic achievement after another, drawings, prints, etc.

I don't recall being taught very much about these artists in school. It was always straight to Kandinsky, and also always straight to Pollack, depending on what period you were studying.

Female artists were always taking care of kids, and didn't have it in them to hang out at bars all night and get drunk with painter buddies, 5-7 nights a week.

But anyway, the teaching I got from school was usually "only the French school," and what not. Excuse.

The ideas were definitely in the air though, I imagine all over.

Anyway, I think both these painters were incredible in many different ways and for so many reasons.

Hi everyone! Do you remember the video about detecting edges using the #Sobel operator, which we enhanced by using #Gaussian blur? One of the drawbacks of Gaussian blur is that it's somewhat computationally intensive, which can pose some performance issues for our game if we want to apply such an #effect in real-time. In this video, I will demonstrate a much faster way to #blur our sprite or the entire screen. #Godot #Godot4 #GodotEngine #GodotTips #devlog

Hi everybody! It is January 2024, I wish everyone a happy new year, and I'm back with new videos from the world of #Godot, #shaders, and I'm also planning to record something about modeling in Blender. Anyways, the first video of this year is dedicated to a shader that can be used for interesting post-processing effects and uses the #Sobel operator along with other algorithms, such as #Gaussian blur. Let's dive into it. #GodotEngine #godot4 #GodotTips #devlog

Working on my #bot to explore escape-time fractals, rendered with distance estimator colouring using my #et project. It's a #bash script that calls out to #ghc #haskell for calculator functionality, plus image fitness function in custom #C code (using #openmp for #parallel processing).

Flatness of #directionality #histogram seems to be a good #metric to add into the #fitness function for exploring #fractals algorithmically, because stretched/skewed images will have strong directionality peaks, while more #isotropic regions will be flatter.

I implemented it using 5x5 #Sobel filters as suggested on the #ImageJ website. Nothing fancy (like Earth Mover's Distance, which I haven't figured out for circular arrays yet) for the histogram comparison, just Euclidean vector distance.

Directionality

This plugin is used to infer the preferred orientation of structures present in the input image. It computes a histogram indicating the amount of structures in a given direction. Images with completely isotropic content are expected to give a flat histogram, whereas images in which there is a preferred orientation are expected to give a histogram with a peak at that orientation.
