AGI - Andrea Kimi Antonelli, 19 anni, trionfando al Gran Premio di Cina ha fatto la storia. Nato a Bologna il 25 agosto 2006, ha esordito in Formula 1 nel 2025 usando il numero 12 di Ayrton Senna ed è attivo con Mercedes.

È cresciuto a pane e motori: è figlio di Marco Antonelli, pilota automobilistico e proprietario dell'AKM Motorsport, squadra che corre in diversi campionati GT. In Formula 1, ha ben 4 record di precocità primo fra tutti, quello di essere stato il pilota più giovane ad aver conquistato una pole position nel Gran Premio e da oggi, dopo aver trionfato in Cina, anche quello di pilota italiano più giovane vincitore di una gara valida per il mondiale.
È stato due volte campione europeo di kart nella categoria OK (nel 2020 e 2021). Ha vinto la Formula 4 ADAC, la Formula 4 italiana e i FIA Motorsport Games nella categoria Formula 4 nel 2022, la Formula Regional Middle East e la Formula Regional Europea nel 2023.
Il nome Kimi non è legato come si potrebbe facilmente immaginare al pilota finlandese Raikkonen ma a una semplice scelta dei suoi genitori. Quest'anno, all'esordio del campionato, ha colto il quarto podio in carriera sul circuito di Melbourne nel GP d'Australia arrivando secondo. Sette giorni dopo, ecco la pole in Cina, che lo porta a essere a soli 19 anni e 6 mesi e 18 giorni il più giovane in assoluto della storia a riuscirci.
Battuto anche Vettel
Kimi Antonelli ha infatti in questo caso battuto il record detenuto da Sebastian Vettel che resisteva dal 2008 ed è stato il primo italiano a prendersi la pole dopo 17 anni: l'ultimo pilota azzurro a farlo è stato Giancarlo Fisichella in occasione del GP del Belgio del 2009.
Nella gara in Cina, ha resistito al compagno di scuderia George Russel e alle due Ferrari cogliendo cosi il primo successo della sua carriera e diventando il primo italiano a vincere proprio dopo Fisichella che trionfò nel Gran Premio della Malesia nel lontano 2006. Non solo pilota ma anche attore: è apparso infatti, in un cameo, nel film "Veloce come il vento" di Matteo Rovere.

He grew up surrounded by motors: he is the son of Marco Antonelli, a racing driver and owner of AKM Motorsport, a team that competes in several GT championships. The name Kimi is not linked as one might easily imagine to the Finnish driver Räikkönen, but to a simple choice by his parents. This year, at the start of the championship, he secured fourth place in his career at the Melbourne circuit in the Australian GP, finishing second. Seven days later, here was the pole in China, which made him, at just 19 years and 6 months and 18 days old, the youngest ever to achieve it.

Kimi Antonelli thus broke the record held by Sebastian Vettel, which had stood since 2008, and was the first Italian to take the pole after 17 years: the last Italian driver to do so was Giancarlo Fisichella during the Belgian Grand Prix of 2009.
In the Chinese race, he resisted teammate George Russell and the two Ferraris, thus securing his first victory in his career and becoming the first Italian to win immediately after Fisichella who triumphed in the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2006.
