Humidifier Too Loud? Put a Noctua Fan in it!

Albo taki sam egzemplarz? Albo zdjęcie?

Some more capacitors to replace on this tiny CRT TV, but I miss 6,8uF 10V 😿

You never have enough capacitors!

Had a look at the dead mitre saw. Motor works fine and the mechanics are okay, although it's a cheap one.

There's some nice quick clamps with hand cranks that can be used for a number of things.

Alas, there's some pieces missing, most importantly the axle for installing a blade!

Found one online that _may_ be a match, perhaps worth a try. Then install a steel cutting blade and I have a nice mitre steel saw. The plastic bits on the base will need replacing for that, the aluminium should be able to cope.

@yngmar

I have the exact same saw, but it is at my mother's shed after a deck repair "fest".

I can send measurements of something if needed.

As a metal worker I'll say, it might have too many RPMs for steel, but for aluminum it is ready to go of course. Worth a try definetly.

🤷

@mastosalo Hmm, good point about rpm. The Bosch 254 mm steel blade has max rpm 1900. Guess I need to see about slowing the motor down, else it's only resin cutting wheels instead.

A VFD perhaps. Will have to see about cost for that.

This project only makes sense if the total expense is significantly below that of a purpose built metal saw :)

@mastosalo OH, if you are near your saw and don't mind popping the shaft out (those two screws I'm missing), a few diameters and tooth count of the gear would be brilliant! 😸

@yngmar

This will be tomorrow. Hope you can wait. I'll go to see my mother tomorrow in any case. I'll pop a few pictures out no problem. It is my older saw, which is not in my shop much of the time nowadays.

@mastosalo Awesome, thanks! No rush, it's safe and dry in the barn now and I've got tons of other stuff to do :)

I just had a look and found this, so apparently there are blades for doing exactly this (woodworking saw with steel blade) that can handle the higher rpm:

Now I just gotta find one. And hopefully the right part to complete mine.

Exciting!

@yngmar

You know what. This looks similar, but as the Clas Ohlson stickers are gone, not 100% sure...🤦

@yngmar

There are differences for sure, maybe this is your's cousin model.

@mastosalo Looks like a slightly improved version from the same mother. Perhaps newer model. The base cast is different and includes an aluminium extension for the blade slit, where mine is plastic and damaged, so they probably fixed this later.

If it's for a 254 mm disc I'd still be interested in the axle measurements and gear teeth count - I doubt the drive was changed too.

@yngmar

DIY project does not have to make sense. 😎
